By providing water level information via text messages, via donau offers a new service to both shipping operators navigating the Austrian section of the Danube as well as to other interested parties. All Danube water levels that are listed on the DoRIS website and updated on an hourly basis are now available free of charge* via text message enquiry.

Users simply have to send a message containing one of the enquiry texts below to the indicated service number and a few seconds later they will receive the then current water level in reply.

Range: This service is available within Austria as well as from other countries. Users can send up to five text message enquiries an hour.

* Cost: This service is available free of charge. Users only incur the standard text message fees specified in their respective mobile phone contracts. Text message replies to user enquiries do not entail any further charges. via donau, however, expressly points out that users may be charged roaming fees for such enquiries by their respective mobile communications providers.
