SuperGreen or “Supporting EU Freight Transport Logistics Action Plan on Green Corridor Issues” is a coordinated action supported in the context of the 7th Framework Programme. The project aims at supporting the development of sustainable transport networks by fulfilling requirements covering environmental, technical, economic, social and spatial planning in representative regions and main transport routes throughout Europe.
The Helsinki workshop started with a presentation of the 15 pre-selected potential Green European corridors based partly on the current TEN-T. This was relevant in terms of the market and logistics needs of the project’s industrial partners.
Furthermore, other topics were covered among which Key Performance Indicators, the role of eFreight, and a specific proposal on the most favourable set of corridors for further analysis in the project.
As a result of the deliberations of the workshop, a set of 9 corridors were selected that will be used for benchmarking and further analysis in the project.
The project, which started last January, will last 3 years. It involves 22 partners from 13 European countries.
