• There are two files for each waterway section:
  • the files "2w......" contain all geographical information (charts of via donau),
  • the files "1s......" contain data relevant to shipping police regulations (charts of OSB).
• The characters "..7d...." or rather "..LD.." in the file name specify the chart’s type of use and the river (Danube). 
• The characters five to eight of the file name specify the river kilometre of the lower border of the respective section of the chart. 
• The numbers after the dot specify the version of the respective cell (000 = basic cell, 001, 002,... = updates)

In order to display a complete image of the section from river kilometre 1910,000 to 1920,000, to name just one example, the cells 2w7d1910.000 and 1sLd1910.000 have to be opened using viewer software with a file selection function. For details, please see the instruction manual provided by the software supplier.

The following files comprise the whole Austrian Danube from the German to the Slovak border. The German charts for the Main-Danube Canal, the Rhine, the Main and the Danube are currently available at the above-mentioned suppliers of the viewer software for a fee.

The charts have been carefully examined and checked. However, minor deviations and errors may occur. Therefore, we kindly request you to send any error messages that may occur to: johannes.nemeth   via-donau.org
